I decided I needed to post at least one picture of something I made recently. Since this is my first blog and my debut, I dug out a picture I saved from a month or so ago. This was my second try at the same pattern. My first try, I did not have the ruffles on the front. This is a Today's Fit by Sandra Betzina. V7903 I got the idea of the ruffles from a womans tailored shirt that was being sold at the Thomas Pink store. I found instructions on how to make the ruffles in the September 2009 issue of Threads Magazine. By the way... Threads Magazine suggests using silk thread to make these ruffles. They suggested silk because of its slick exterior and its strength. The owner of Curran Designer Fabrics in McLean, VA recommended that I do not use silk. She explained that silk is too strong and over time will cut through almost any fabric. I took her advice and was very happy with the results. Any poly thread works perfectly.
